6/3 Afternoon update

We came in after lunch and both babies were off their cannulas.  Ben had been moved to an open crib with no warmer and other gadgets overhead.  They were keeping their oxygen level up, although Evie did have an apnea while eating.  Eating episodes move back their release 3 days so that won't affect anything.  The earliest they could get home is June 9 because of the 10 hour final exam.  We also heard they can be pretty sure they won't have jaundice.  There was some concern with Evelyn because her bilirubin level was high and she was looking a little yellow.  We also found out they should be moving into the same bed which is why they gave Ben the new crib.

We don't have a lot of time to respond but we have been reading all of your comments and appreciate them very much.

Ben happy to have the tube out of his nose

Evie is feeling pretty good too

  3. Sorry about the apnea episodes. They can be on apnea monitors at home and you will be able to get some sleep without worrying about their breathing. Know you want them home really badly but they are getting excellent care by experts in the field right now. Both you and Jessie need to try to get as much rest as is possible before they come home. Jessie needs time to recover. Let the staff do their jobs and know the babies are in great care right now. However, there is nothing like the TLC they will get at home from Mom and Dad (it comes with big kisses and mountains of hugs and love without end!) They are beautiful babies and the smiles are priceless! Hang in there, you will have them for the rest of your lives!!

  4. I'm so excited at their progress and to see their little faces without medical attachments. That picture of Evelyn is so crisp, I just want to reach out and stroke her soft cheek. She's beautiful.
